Transtips

Some tips to translate a piece of news:

Let's say you want to translate from English into French.

1) click on the English page

2) click on "edit" in the top left of the page; the editor will open up and you will see something like this:

3) Now you need to copy the text you want to translate. Using your mouse, select the part of the text you want to translate (usually it will be between to groups of "----"). The background of the selected text will change color (here it is in light blue).

4) Now hit the right mouse button, and a menu will come up. This can differer from computer to computer, but if you highlighted the text correctly you'll see an item called "copy" on the menu (here in Italian: "copia"). Choose that item and release the mouse button.

5) Now hit the cancel button at the bottom of the edit page and go back to the main news menu.

6) select "News in French" and then select the "edit" item on the menu in the top right part of the screen. the same editor of point 2 will come up again.

7) place you mouse where you want the piece of news to appear and click it. Usually this will be at the top of the page, right below the title (which here is "!! HOPE News en français").

8) Now you can start translating the text by replacing each sentence with the equivalent in French. Be very careful NOT to touch formatting commands (for instance: "% center%", or "!!!" or "//".

9) Once you are finished, hit the save button. To view your text select "news in French" on the menu on he right. If you see any mistakes, just go back to point 6 and edit again.
