Freeing Freddie the Dream Weaver

Hope, Joy, and Optimism for Children in Hospital
Uplifting Children’s Hearts and Minds by Strengthening and Building Emotional Skills & Tools

Hospital stays can be a frightening and isolating experience for children. Research shows that up to 60% of hospitalized children experience symptoms of anxiety or depression during their stay. At Free the Mind Co, we believe that supporting children’s emotional wellbeing is an essential complement to medical care. That’s why we’ve developed research-based programs designed to inspire hope, connection, and joy — right from a child’s hospital bed and extending into their home, bridging the transition with gentleness.

Why Joy Matters

Emotional wellbeing has a profound impact on physical healing. Studies have shown that positive emotions can improve immune response, reduce hospital stays, and lower stress hormone levels by up to 23%. When children are encouraged to play and dream, their recovery becomes a supported journey—one that can be shared with siblings and parents.

The story of Freeing Freddie the Dream Weaver is at the heart of our emotional wellbeing programming. Through animated modules and illustrated books, Freddie guides children aged 5–13 on a magical journey where they:

Understand and express their emotions

Release fear and anxiety

Build confidence and self-awareness

Strengthen empathy, gratitude, and kindness

Reignite imagination and hope

Children love and relate to Freddie and his friends—studies show that emotionally engaging characters increase information retention and emotional connection. The stories are designed to be enjoyed independently or with the support of a caregiver, creating safe, imaginative spaces for healing.
