Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Hospital Educator and Academic Liaison (HEAL) Association’s annual national conference will be offered as a Virtual Conference to address the educational needs of pediatric patients. Content will include the presentations originally planned for the in-person conference in Dallas. Additionally, we are soliciting presentations that reflect the relevant issues in our ever-changing world. HEAL invites the submission of presentation proposals addressing the following topics.
Diversity and Inclusion
Specifically, we are interested in your expertise and experience as these topics impact our work and our students/patients. This can also include programming, self-care/professional support, teaching/classroom strategies, and long-term implications for students/patients with medical and mental health conditions.
You are invited to watch this short Dutch movie (with English subtitles) about hospital teaching in the Netherlands.

Dear members of HOPE,
It is with a heavy heart that we must report that the HOPE Congress in Tallinn in May 2020 cannot take place.
The organizing team of Estonia has had several emergency meetings with the government of Estonia and discussed every possible situation regarding the HOPE congress in May.
The government has declared an emergency situation (until 1 May but it can change) due to the pandemic spread of the coronavirus in the world and the likely further spread of the virus within Estonia.
The emergency situation concerns the following:
All public gatherings are prohibited.
On behalf of the organising team of Estonia
and on behalf of the Board of HOPE,
(President of HOPE)
We appreciate that with regular news stories and updates about COVID-19 Coronavirus, there were many questions that we and our visitors had about our International Days.
Some of you contacted us only a couple of days ago.
As hospital school we have to strictly follow the protocols set by the various relevant local and national governmental bodies, in a rapidly changing situation.
At 10:30 this morning we were notified by our Head that all events must be cancelled until end of April 2020. This measure has been issued after a risk assessment by relevant bodies.
The health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff is our absolute number one priority.
Our position today is that the “International Days of March 30-31 and April 1st 2020” are cancelled.
We understand that this can be a financial burden due to costs incurred for cancellation of tickets or hotels.
This email can be used as an official cancellation form for your airline or booking agent. If you need more paperwork and red tape: let us know.
We feel very very sorry for this situation and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience you encounter. We hope to see some of you in Tallinn in May for the HOPE congress.
PLEASE DO: confirm the reception of this communication and please do share with your colleagues.
