More and more countries are now using the Bravery Cord®. This necklace supports children throughout their treatment, with each bead representing a specific procedure, event, or test. The beads are strung together to create a unique story for every child. The necklace has existed in the Netherlands for nearly twenty years. Based on pedagogical research, the Dutch Childhood Cancer Association launched it in 2006, inspired by a similar initiative in the United States.

A beautiful concept
Because the Bravery Cord® is such a beautiful concept, we want to share it with as many countries as possible. Our wish is that every child with cancer, wherever they are in the world, can create their own Bravery Cord®. All countries can order the necklace from the Association for a nominal fee. They are responsible for its promotion and distribution within their own country. The intellectual property remains with the Association.
